Mural by Students of the High School for Arts and Business

About the Mural
This mural, created by students from the High School for Arts and Business, celebrates the rich cultural diversity and iconic landmarks of Queens, New York. The design process began with individual concept sketches that were later combined into a cohesive, large-scale composition. The layout follows a left-to-right progression, symbolizing the neighborhoods of Queens from West to East.
Key landmarks, such as the Unisphere, were included to reflect the borough's vibrant identity and community pride. Each section of the mural was thoughtfully assigned, with various buildings and elements distributed to span the majority of the wall space.
Digital tools including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop were used to develop and refine the artwork. All student artists involved were certified in both programs through their Career and Technical Education (CTE) coursework. Precise measurements of the wall were taken, and digital artboards were scaled accordingly to ensure accuracy during installation.
Once the individual components were completed, they were assembled into a unified design, with each element placed in its corresponding neighborhood. The project emphasizes collaboration, digital proficiency, and creative problem solving skills that align with both academic growth and future career readiness.
